Meet Oriana

I’m Oriana (Isaacson) Layne, the founder of Ask Oriana, an educational consulting practice built on a foundation of dual expertise: supporting families and advising institutions.

I love school; I am an independent school lifer both personally and professionally. I use my experience and expertise to offer strategic guidance to everyone involved in the independent school landscape.

I am originally from Los Angeles and attended Le Lycée Français de Los Angeles and Harvard-Westlake School. I earned my B.A. from Columbia University where I double majored in French & Francophone Studies and Hispanic Studies. I was also a Varsity athlete (fencing) and a Campus Tour Guide. I worked at The Bush School, a K-12 school in Seattle, WA in the Admission Office before moving to the Bay Area to work at Crystal Springs Uplands School. I most recently served as the Director of Enrollment Management and Affordability and previously served as Dean of Students. Remember how I love school? I earned my Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Education Policy and Leadership from American University a few years ago while balancing work full-time.

I live with my husband and our two cats, Biggie and Smalls. I am a big sports fan (Lakers, Seahawks, Storm, Kraken), I love to read, and I plan trips for friends and family in my spare time.
